Old Business

Building on Faith report: Dan Jones said that the current total is $3,453,000, which is an increase of $24,000 from last month’s report.  Work on the bylaws for incorporation toward a 501C3 is progressing.

Marcha edificar en la fe results: Fr. Jerry said about 80 people participated in the walk.  Ages of participants ranged from 10 to 72 years.  The net proceeds are $7,571.25.  The Comite Latino met recently and decided to host another walk next year on June 1st.

Ministry Fair: Matt Lara will meet with Fr. Jerry soon to talk over plans, draft a letter to all parish groups, and set a fall date for the event.

Parish picnic: This event was postponed from June 24 to July 15.  Discussion included asking Antonio about his preparations and Juan will check on griddles for the grills.  Fr. Jerry asked for council members to give an announcement at the masses July 7 and 8 inviting parishioners to the picnic.

New council members:  Ballots were cast for council candidates and three were elected, with Fr. Jerry to appoint the remaining positions.  The three elected were:  Don Behrendt, Judy Bartz, and Terry Radford.  Fr. Jerry will send letters of acceptance to the newly elected and appointed members.

New Business

Car accident:   Dan reported that after the Walk on June 3rd, Sr. Neida was driving home when she hit by a car that had run a stop sign.  The parish car was totaled, passenger Irma Santos sustained injuries requiring surgery, Sister received a broken arm, and other passengers had sprains and bruises.  The other driver was rendered comatose and has just gotten out of ICU.  A diocesan attorney is currently negotiating with the insurance companies for medical expenses.

Director of music: Diana Larkin presented an outline of duties and tasks that are needed to coordinate the English music ministry.  Noreen Huntley was originally asked by Fr. Jerry to handle this, and has been doing so without benefit of official pastoral appointment or a job description.  The position is volunteer.  After discussion, council members approved the recommendation to Fr. Jerry that he officially appoint Noreen.  He will meet with her to work out the details of the job description, and then send notice to the English music ministers regarding this appointment.

Diocesan study “All Welcome at the Table: Fr. Jerry said that this study will contribute to the Diocese’s strategic planning for ministry and direction for the next several years.  Surveys will be given to parish groups, to parishioners at masses, and be in the bulletin, so congregants can have input into the study.  This is scheduled to begin in early fall.

Other Items: Mari de Leon will begin as Youth Ministry director on August 1, 2007.

St. Paul’s School has hired one new teacher and is still searching for one more.

The Boy Scout fundraiser last weekend at the tractor pull in Fruitland brought in $300, and the week prior to that made a $400 profit at ACI.
