St. Paul’s Steering Committee

Meeting Minutes 3/18/2003

Rusty Boicourt began the meeting at 6:41 PM, leading in an opening prayer.

Community Communications and Rumor Management committees are in need of volunteers and a chairperson.  Tom Sweet, the Friend to these committees, is going to research who has volunteered for them and recruit others as needed.

Ministry, Non-Worship Spaces and Social disciplines are still unassigned a Friend on the SC.  Rusty took down a couple of names as possible leads for volunteers to fill the open seats.

Rusty, Dan Jones and Fr. Gerry will meet to discuss the fundraising companies that were interviewed and will make a recommendation to the SC at the next meeting.

The primary topic of discussion for the evening was the previous workshops and the homework assignment.  The table was opened for input on what the new church form and function should be.  Members shared their opinions on a variety of topics such as a day chapel, seating formation, priority of construction phases, non-worship spaces and fundraising.  All ideas were positive and well received.  Though the homework assignment was not completed at the meeting, the SC was able to prioritize the four basic elements of Phase I; they are: church, multi-function facility, parish offices, and gymnasium.

The information kiosk at the back of the church should be taking shape by this weekend.  Gelacio Delarosa is having the icon printed on posters and Sue Hamilton will be mounting mailboxes for committee chairpersons.

Tammi suggested that an effort be made by all members to begin meetings promptly at 6:30 and finish at 7:30.  Rusty agreed and suggested that anyone who wants to continue discussions is welcome to stay after the meeting to do so.

The meeting ended at 8:00.
