St. Paul’s Steering Committee

Meeting Minutes 3/4/2003

 

Rusty Boicourt began the meeting at 6:43 PM, leading in an opening prayer.

 

Jim Swain joined the Steering Committee.  Jim is undecided as to which committee discipline he will be representing.  Currently there are five disciplines left unassigned: Ministry, Study, Non-Worship Space, Communications and Social.  Fr. Gerry has made a few suggestions for possible leadership volunteers and Rusty will be following up with them this week. 

 

Rusty has created an informational sheet for committee members entitled “How Did We Get Here?”  The sheet details the work done by the Planning Subcommittee.  The information is being translated into Spanish and will be distributed this week. 

 

Ideas were discussed for ways to distribute any information to committee chairpersons and members.  It was decided to install mailboxes in the information kiosk at the back of the church.  Each committee chairperson will be responsible for checking the boxes on a regular basis for new information. 

 

Program Planning Workshops are being held on March 9th (Espanol) all day and March 10th and 11th (English) at 7:00 PM.  Tuesday afternoon is open for an intimate question and answer session with Bill Brown, our Liturgical Design Consultant.  The Steering Committee members are invited to meet with Bill Brown at 5:30 PM on March 10th prior to the first workshop.  Dinner will be provided.

 

Ken Nguyen proposed announcements of the workshops be made to television stations and newspapers.  No one has volunteered yet for the community relations committee.  Dan Jones is going to follow up on getting the information to the local paper and the Idaho Catholic Register. 

 

Jim Swain suggested weekly updates be made before Mass.  A strong Public Relations person should deliver the messages; someone who can motivate others and who people trust. 

 

Rusty is working on two new flyers to provide information on how the architectural firm and general contractor company were chosen.

 

Fundraising companies are being interviewed all day on Monday, March 10th.  The Steering Committee will provide input on the final selection when meeting on Monday evening.
