The Million Minutes Reading Challenge is underway, and Mayor Tom Dale helped us celebrate at an assembly on Tuesday. With juice and granola bars in hand, students listened to Nampa's Mayor read selected poems from Shel Silverstein's, Every Thing On It, and a chapter from one of his favorite book series, Wayside School Is Falling Down, by Louis Sachar. Mayor Dale is an excellent presenter, and his character-reading and the hilarity of the stories got us pumped up for another month of reading-reading-and more reading!
(How are you doing, Mom and Dad, racking up those minutes?)

As part of the assembly, one student won a copy of Shel Silverstein's book and the school library received a copy, also.
