Meeting Minutes

May 2, 2007

 

MT. CALVARY CEMETERY BOARD;

 

Present: Pat Crane, Liz Bilbao, Christina Rhoades, Ted Rush, Fran Robinson and an Alsips representative.

Absent: Dan Jones, Mike Crane, Mary Lou Leal and Mel Landers

 

The Board Members met at the cemetery at 6:30 P>M>

 

It was announced that Heath Holverson has moved to Idaho Falls. Alsips Funeral Chapel will name a new representative to the Board.

 

Final plans were made for the Memorial Day mass.

 

Christina will check on the perennial flowers at Mary's Grotto. She will plant new ones if they didn't survive the winter.

 

Fran will make arrangements to have Hermans headstone cleaned before Memorial Day and check on the flower order for Hermans and the Priests.

 

Members were pleased with the condition of the cemetery and feel Diamond Lawn Care is doing a good job.

Present: Dan Jones, Pat Crane, Ted Rush, Mike Crane, Heath Holverson and Mario DeLeon

 

Financial: Dan presented the financial report and will request endowment monies be transferred before July 1st. Mike suggested Dan prepare a budget.

 

Cemetery:

 

Dan has ordered the Papal flag and Heath will provide the American Flag to be installed before Memorial Day.

 

Heath announced sunken graves in the old section have been filled in and Mario will sod the plots. The Monument Co will repair the sunken stones.

 

The Board approved the bark along the road be replaced with rock. Mario will check with John Bell about obtaining the rock.

 

Mario reported the shrubs on the north side of the cemetery are dying of age as opposed to insects. The Board will make a decision about replacement at a later date. Mario will burn accumulated debris and notify Benjamins about emptying the filled dumpster. Mowing will take place on Wednesdays. Mario's costs will be faxed to Dan.

 

Memorial Day Responsibilities:

 

Heath: Tent, porta potty, helium tank, balloons, chairs and balloon name cards.

Liz: Tables

Christina: Extension Cords

Fran: Food and drink

Dan: Flower regulation notice in the bulletin and posted at the cemetery. Music people: Sound Equipment

 

Dan will contact Larry Schmitt about adding Cemetery Board information to the church web site.

 

Dan will send an invitation to those people whose family members have been buried this past year to attend the mass and reception, along with a list of regulations.

 

 Development of the new section in the next three to five years was discussed, along with the possibility of raising the plot fees. Present costs are: $425.plus $300 for opening and closing. Kohler lawn charges

$550 for a plot. A quorum is necessary to make a decision.

 

Heath provided plot sales information as well as plot information. A check for plot purchases will be made to the cemetery account every six months.

 

The next meeting will be held at the cemetery May 2nd at 6:30 P.M.
